Cleaning Large Chunk Crystals

Crystal Chunk Cluster

Question: I have a big 10 pound milky quartz with incrustations of medium black tourmaline. When it arrived it seemed like a regular non-energetic stone, and I did all sort of things to activate or maybe revive it, I made custom (invented by me) rituals, surrounded by sacred things like statues of Buddha, my most special crystals, I bathed it with diamantine water, I fumed it with palosanto (do you use this incense up in north america? It's great to leave a burning palosanto on a stone to cleanse it and give it extra protection) and finally a few weeks ago I started feeling its vibe, and could start using it for charging other stones, which Im very glad of, but what came into my mind is what should I do to keep it full of energy and clean (I usually don't program stones, I prefer them to manifest as they are)... should I put it in a big bucket with salt and leave it night round for moon light to reach it? should I leave it under the sun for charging it? Or do clusters this big maintain them selves active without external care? Since its such a big stone, I'm not very sure which would be the best way to go, and I´d be very grateful for your advice.

Amethyst point cluster

Answer: Clusters are usually energetically self-cleaning if they are many points growing from one base. The points are constantly circulating renewed energy. However, it sounds like you have a large rock-like cluster with no individual points. In this case, it is not circulating energy as fast, it is storing it more, and you will want to clean out its energy once in a while and more if you are doing active crystal healing rituals with the stone. You will want to use either your incense or salt or whatever other method you prefer to clean the Quartz. Healers have found that placing their stones in the moonlight helps with intuitive and psychic energies while placing their stones in the sunlight helps active it with more physical healing energies. Of course, you can leave the stones throughout the daily cycles for a balance of these energies as well.

Yes, we do have palosanto here, but it is not as common to use as sage incense is.

I hope this helps and we are always happy to answer your crystal healing questions.

Sincerely,
Sheila Satin

CRYSTALS: Desert Rose Selenite

QUESTION: Does desert rose selenite charge and clean crystals like the regular selenite?

ANSWER: Hi, good question. Yes, Desert Rose Selenite will charge crystals as well. However, it may be in a form which is not as easy to use compared to a big Selenite log which can easily be used as a base for your crystals to be placed or Selenite wands and polished Selenite which can easily be scanned over your crystals to be cleaned.

CRYSTALS: Nebula

QUESTION: Dear Satin, I bought today a lovely nebula stone, but I don't know how to charge it. Does it like the sun? Thanks in advance for the answer.

ANSWER: Hello! The main component of Nebula Stone is Quartz, so it would be a good idea to charge it in the sun.

As for cleaning, you can choose your preferred method. We like to us dry brown rice as it doesn't scratch like salt and is safer than water which can dissolve certain soft stones.

CRYSTALS: Care

QUESTION: Hi, i am new to crystals i currently own a Rose Quartz and Amethest i wear them on a chain together, i was wondering how to clean and charge or program them.

ANSWER: Thanks for your question.

I would suggest cleaning and charging your pendants on a large cluster. clusters with more points are best as they are constantly circulating focused energy through the tips. This will effectively clean and charge your stones, especially if the cluster is kept in the sunlight. I have large Quartz clusters I like to use, but you can use any cluster you have available. If you do not own any clusters, you can also use dry brown rice, another one of my favorite cleaning methods. You will want to place these also in the sunlight to charge.
You can also simply run them under tap water, but again, if they with metals or on a chain, this may tarnish the metal. So, for jewelry you should stay away from water when you are unsure of the outcome.
Dry sea salt is another popular cleaning method, but for polished stones this could lead to scratches, depending on the hardness of the crystal.
If you have any additional questions, i am happy to answer them for you. You can also feel free to call our retail shop during store hours!

CRYSTALS: Turquoise Nuggets

QUESTION: I'M JUST CURIOUS... WHY IS THE 'TURQUOISE' STONE SO SMALL AND ROUGH.... IT ISN'T POLISHED LIKE THE OTHERS..... ALSO DO ALL THE STONES NEED RECHARGING BEFORE THEY ARE PROGRAMED ?

ANSWER: Hi, Turqoise comes in small raw nuggets so when they are tumbled, they put some stabilizing chemicals like resin or glue to hold it together, so the Natural form is better in this case for chakra work. Yes, none of these stones have been charged yet, so please do clean, charge and program them before use!

CRYSTALS: Brown Rice

QUESTION: HI.... WOULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW LONG I SHOULD LEAVE MY HEALING STONES IN 'BROWN RICE' TO CLEAN THEM ? ALSO HOW OFTEN SHOULD THEY BE CHARGED ? THANK YOU SO MUCH.

ANSWER: Hi, the first time you receive the crystals, I would leave them overnight buried in the brown rice. If you want, you can even store them in the brown rice as a permanent home. I do this with some of my crystals!

If you do extensive healing work, I would change the rice out once a week. If not, then about once a month.

The crystals only need to be charged the one time in the beginning. However, if you feel that they are not as energized as in the beginning after you've been using them for a while, it never hurts to charge again at that time.

CRYSTALS: Malachite

QUESTION: HELLO, HOW WOULD YOU RECHARGE THIS CRYSTAL?, AND YOU SAY...BE CAREFULL, WHAT DOES WATER DO TO THIS CRYSTAL?, I BOUGHT A BOWL FROM YOU, MADE OF MALACHITE, THANK YOU.

ANSWER: Hi, to recharge this crystal, you can place it in the sunlight, in the moonlight or on another crystal cluster. We say be careful of placing this piece in water because it's not fully polished and the raw parts may or may not dissolve in liquid. Once the stones are tumbled smooth, they are usually resistant to water. For example, your Malachite Bowl is polished smooth and meant for water!

CRYSTALS: Recharging

QUESTION: Hello, I am wondering if you can answer a question I have regarding crystals changing colors. I have a Lemurian clear colored crystal (about the size of my fist), which I was using in a healing grid. It is now turning orange in a few areas. I tried cleaning it with water and soap and vinegar too. Not sure if salt would damage the crystal so haven't tried that. My guess is that since the crystal was in the center of the healing grid that it was taking on so much negative energy that the discoloration occurred. I just put it in the sunlight to see if that will help. I am wondering if the energy of the crystal is damaged forever or if it is still usable for healing purposes once it has taken a "break". If this is true, how long of a "break" should I give it or should I just recharge it? It has been attuned to the Master level of Reiki. The crystal was very expensive due to the size and so I want to do whatever I can to "help" it heal. Please email me with your advice/suggestions.Thank you for your time and assistance!

ANSWER: If you use this crystal extensively for healing, I would definitely give it a break for a week or two, all the while recharging its energies in the sunlight and cleansing it with your preferred method of cleaning. In your case, I would even deprogram the crystal and reprogram it to recharge and recover. To learn more about cleaning, charging and programming crystals, visit my website: I Dig Crystals This is why it's always good to have a back-up set if you're doign professional healing work like reiki!

If your intuition tells you that the power of the crystal is just as energetic as when you first received it, even after the recharging break, I would return it to the earth (bury it in your garden or a potted plant) for a longer period of time.

CRYSTALS: Cluster Cleaning

QUESTION: Hi, I received my cluster and it is just beautiful. I am just learning and starting to use crystals, Your website is very helpful, but I would like to clarify do I need to clean and charge and program my cluster? I know you discuss this for crystals. So is this needed with my Arilbite cluster with apophyllite? Please advise. Thanks

ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Clusters are actually self-cleaning as they are constantly circulating positive energy through all of the crystal points, working harmoniously from the common base. We can clean other crystals by placing them on clusters.

However, I do clean my clusters from time to time to remove it of dust. In this case I usually run it under water and leave it to air dry.

Leaving clusters in the windowsill to charge in the sunlight and/or moonlight is also beneficial to keep the crystal's charge.

And, yes, definitely program your cluster if you want it to do something specific!
