Cleaning Celestite Clusters

We obtained some beautiful Celestite geode clusters for I Dig Crystals. These are all one-of-kind angelic blue crystals sparkling in rocky geode bowls. The rocky matrix is crumbly but the crystals are solid, so we tried to wash out as much of the sandy debris as possible and let them shine in the sun to dry before listing!

Are these Real Rubies?

QUESTION: Im sorry to ask this question but are they actual gems?  And how can you sell them so cheap?  I love this pendant my girlfriend loves rubys.. I would hate to purchase a man made stone or a piece of glass.. and do you have a chain that could be available with it?  thank you and again Im sorry I hope this does not seem insulting in anyway..

ANSWER: Hi, thank you for your question. Yes these are actual Ruby gemstones. They are more affordable than your precious Ruby gemstones because they are of a lesser quality than the shiny translucent red gemstones you may be familiar with. If you are unfamiliar with Rubies, rough Rubies are actually opaque purple to pink stones. Rubies in the rough look like purple rocks (I have included a picture for you). The precious gemstone version is much more rare and comes very clear red and very small pieces. The pendant that you are inquiring about is all natural Rubies from India. I do not have a chain that goes with it at this time.

The Clouds in Fluorite

Fluorite, also known as Fluorspar, is made up of Calcium and Fluorite. The name Fluorite comes from Latin "fluere" meaning flow, as the mineral is easy to melt and is often used as a flux in the iron smelting industry.

It has a wider range of colors than any other mineral, making a true “rainbow” stone. Pure Fluorite is colorless but the rainbow colors are caused by mineral inclusions. It is a 4 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness. 

Most fluorite occurs as vein fillings in rocks that have been subjected to hydrothermal activity (heated water in the earth's crust). Fluorite is also found in the fractures and vugs of some limestones and dolomites. It is found worldwide.Many samples of fluorite exhibit fluorescence under ultraviolet light, a property that takes its name from fluorite. Many minerals, as well as other substances, fluoresce under UV light.
