Maori Stones with Magnetite

Scientists are studying the Earth's magnetic field using the stones that line Maori steam ovens.The cooking process generates so much heat that the magnetic minerals in these stones will realign themselves with the current field direction. Abandoned stones at these locations could shed light on Earth's magnetic behaviour going back hundreds of years.

"The Maori prefer these volcanic boulders because they don't crack and shatter in the fire, and from our point of view they're the best because magnetically they behave better - they're formed with a high concentration of magnetite," the Wellington scientist said. "But there are some sedimentary rocks which we can use also."

CRYSTALS: Smelted

QUESTION: I have a crystal question. It seems that many of the crystal items that I invested in over the years were actually smelted and not naturally formed. These did not come from the Satins, but elsewhere. My question is, In what ways would smelted quartz spheres and crystals be different, in terms of healing energies?

ANSWER: Thank you for your question. The process of smelting crystals takes raw, natural stones and melts them into a liquid and mixing in a few additives. Depending on what stones you are using and what you are mixing in, the new crystal will cool and solidify to a new color and formation.

In regards to your question, you will not get a natural healing energy you receive from crystals that are directly from nature. Personally I prefer natural crystals for healing, but other people may find a deeper connection to smelted crystal depending on what other minerals have been added to the process of smelting. For example, I had previously written about the smelted Quartz and Copper crystals. In this case, some healers may prefer to work with the copper infused in the crystal rather than the two separately.

In the end, each healer must decide if they prefer to work with natural crystals as they come from the Earth or ones that have been tampered by man.

CRYSTALS: Brown Rice

QUESTION: Dear Sheila- I have never heard of using Brown rice to cleanse a crystal. How does it work? What is the theory behind it? I've know of running water and salt water, but the brown rice is a new idea to me and I like the idea, but again what is the basis behind it. I enjoy your site and have recommended it to my friends.

ANSWER: Hi, thanks for your email. I personally prefer to use brown rice because it is readily available and easy to use and to store. As for the theory behind it, I don't know where it came from, but my guess is that it has something to do with the fiber coating that white rice does not have. I am not sure about the theory of salt water either other than its connection to the sea, so brown rice may be a connection to the earth. In a sense it would make sense as I am an Earth person and don't prefer the sea. Pure speculation, but may be reality!

I suggest you experiment with the different methods of cleaning crystals (salt water, sage, tap water, brown rice, sea salt, clusters, etc) to find the method that you prefer. You can also watch the video I have on cleaning crystals at: http://satincrystals.ning.com/

MONEY MULTIPLIER: Day 3

I passed through my 7 chakras with the affirmation that "every day in every way I am becoming rich and richer", holding the aura wand in both hands (it's 15" long!). Half way through I opened my eyes and let in the brightness around me.

I then placed the Moss Agate ball (for natural abundance) at my stomach, pointing the tip of the Aura Wand at the ball and held my Bloodstone egg in my hands tightly. I began to affirm that "my money multiplies and I retain wealth" but then my mind wandered and I could feel my aura vibrating with the rich colors of forest green. I knew that this was the color of the abundance I am seeking. I was then surprised to notice that a rich, grounding, earth-brown color was vibrating at my feet.
