Sea Urchins Calcite Spine

The precise structure of sea urchins' strong spines has been unraveled - and the find may contribute to stronger concrete in the future.

The tough spines are known to be made of calcium carbonate, which has a number of naturally occurring forms, some more brittle than others.

X-ray studies now show they are built from "bricks" of the crystal Calcite, with a non-crystalline "mortar".

Showering with Crystals

Question: Hi, I am a crystal user. I have a white, or see thru crystal which I bought last summer. I only have one question about it. I have it around my neck all day, everyday. So, I shower my self with the crystal still around my neck. My question is, is it bad for the crystals energy or programing to shower with it? Because when it touches water doesn´t it deprogramming it self? Thanks.

Answer: Thank you for writing to us.  Showering with a crystal will not automatically deprogram it. Programming and reprogramming requires your mental intention, just water alone does not have the same effect.  Therefore, it is okay to shower with the stone.  For complete information about cleaning, charging, and programming please watch our video tutorials that can be found here:

Please note, however, that certain crystals are not meant to be in water for extended amounts of time. Selenite, Angelite, and other soft crystals will lose their luster and eventually begin to dissolve.  If there is silver or metal, that may become tarnished if exposed to water multiple times.

If you do craft shows, you know show season is upon us and it’s time to dust off the canopy and prepare for the warm months ahead and a busy schedule. There are so many fun things about doing craft shows: getting outdoors, meeting new people, developing relationships with customers and other artists, and making money! Doing craft shows is also very hard work and there’s been lots written on how to assure success at shows. You’ve probably heard a lot of it. Make eye contact, don’t sit all day, encourage people to come into your booth.

Have a Positive Attitude
During these economic times, though, just as we’re having to make adjustments in other areas of our lives, there may need to be a bit of a shift in the way we approach selling our jewelry. Let’s face it, buying jewelry has always been a luxury. But I believe it doesn’t have to be a luxury women forego. Plus, often when people feel the most stressed, buying themselves a small gift is exactly what they want to do. Having a positive attitude is rule number one for selling.

Make It Easier for Customers to Buy
Today’s market requires a good range of price points. That doesn’t mean giving away pieces for pennies that took you hours to make. But come up with some new, original designs that take little time with inexpensive materials and make them available next to your more expensive pieces. If you draw a crowd with beautiful designs, priced to sell, chances are your pricier pieces will be hard for some of them to resist!

CRYSTALS: Pendulums

QUESTION: Do you know anything about smelted clear quartz and what it can be programed for? The combo is melted clear quarts with melted copper. It turns the quartz blue? Thank you! Light and love.

ANSWER: Thanks for your question. The combination of Quartz and Copper is excellent for aligning the meridians. We use Copper wands for this purpose, as you can see above, the copper wand is combined with Quartz at the tip and end and also has Quartz chips within the wand!
