Answer: Yes! You are definitely encouraged to use multiple plates on multiple chakras at the same time! This is called a chakra layout and is very beneficial in balancing your life energies.

Strengthening Sphincter for Heart Burns

Working with crystals can help ease heart burns. After traveling to India for two weeks, the long hours on the plane, the jet lag and the lack of exercise gave me my first uncomfortable sensations of heart burn. To help alleviate this pain, I used Moonstone to soothe the stomach and Fluorite  to calm the nerves. Another crystal that will help strengthen the sphincter is the Power Stone, Malachite. 

Heartburn usually occurs after eating or while lying down or bending. This means that your esophageal sphincter is weakened. The weakened valve allows stomach acid to flow into your esophagus instead of keeping it in its place! Pressure on the sphincter muscle from excess weight, overeating, or in my case, sitting for long periods of time, can cause this weakening of the valve.

Use healing crystal energy to help strengthen this valve. Other home remedies you will want to try are sitting upright while digesting, exercising and chewing gum or other foods that create a lot of saliva, which helps push back the acid into place!

Answer:  Hi, for pains related to gas, You will want to focus on crystals which aid the digestion system and stomach. These include Fluorite, Citrine and Pyrite. You can also use a chakra plate for the solar plexus for this purpose.

Gas is caused by swallowed air and normal breakdown of undigested foods by harmless bacteria in our colons. Abdominal pain and flatulence are common symptoms of gas, but if the problem persists, you may want to consider Irritated Bowl Syndrome . IBS is caused by an intestinal disorder and you will want to focus on crystals relieving anxiety in this case.

How to Soften Leather Cords

3mm Leather Cord for Pendants

New leather cords may be stiff. A few ideas to soften your leather cord before wearing with your crystal healing pendant are as follow:

1. Flex the cord back and forth, slowly and smoothly with your fingers to loosen the fibers. This will take some time and you don't want to overdo it, which may risk the cord from cracking. But, this is the most affordable and least messy method.

2. Rub oil into the cord.

3. Leather softening applications, leather oil can be found at equestrian and saddle shops or a leather retail shop (also online). Follow directions on the bottle.

Sparkling Genuine Quartz

Clear Quartz 10mm Bracelet

Question: I would love to have a 14mm clear or faceted, quartz bracelet. If the stones are not manufactured or heat treated, I realize that they would have imperfections. Please let me know if that is something that you can do and if so, how much. Thanks.

Answer: Hi, thank you for your email. At the moment I have one bracelet that fits your requirements. This bracelet is not heat treated. These are natural Quartz stones, however, they are obviously machine-polished. They are 10mm beads. If you are looking for something larger than that, please let me know and I will look to make a custom piece for you. Yes, you are correct, natural Quartz will have unique inclusions. I am actually going out of the country tomorrow until the end of the month, so I will be on the lookout for beads on my travels, and if I don't find what you are wanting, I will do a search here when I get back.

Magnetite vs Hematite

Question: Hi, I am looking for magnetite bracelet which has therapy effect on wrist, I saw your another magnetite bracelet, those magnetite orbs seem much more shinny and polished than the magnetite orbs for this item? Are both also natural magnetite ? Their color look very different.

Which magnetite has better healing effect ?

How about the hematite? The hematite looks very polished, are they also genuine one ?

Answer: Hi, thank you for your email. The shinier, more polished Magnetite bracelet is natural Hematite mixed with man-magnetized minerals. The matte colored grayish orbs you see in this bracelet is natural Magnetite and does not hold such a high magnetic charge. It depends on your preferences. Some people prefer to stick with only natural stones, others prefer the high magnetic effects of man-magnetized stones and the polished look of shiny stones versus matte effect.

As for the Hematite on this bracelet, is it natural, but reconstituted Hematite (ground and shaped) with a high polish on the surface. You may still see little craters of red iron, as natural Hematite has a red mineral streak.

Paradise in Parking Lots

Depave is working to tear up that asphalt and make green spaces bloom again. “From parking lots to paradise.” That’s one of the slogans of Depave, a nonprofit group determined to reverse Joni Mitchell’s grim vision of an asphalt-covered America.

For nearly four years, the Portland, Oregon-based group has been literally tearing up superfluous parking lots and other underused expanses of asphalt and turning them into productive greenspace.

In the summer of 2008, for their first project, Depave’s organizers recruited 147 volunteers to rip up a roughly 2,500-square-foot parking lot next to the Waypost Café in north Portland, eventually turning it into the Fargo Forest Garden. Since then, the group has pulled up unnecessary patches of asphalt all over the city. In its 20 projects so far, Depave has worked with schools, businesses, and even private residents to create new gardens, parks, landscaped yards, and at least one pumpkin patch.
