The sixth chakra, also considered the Third Eye chakra, is located between the eyebrows on the forehead. It is primarily linked to the pituitary gland and is associated with the face, eyes, ears, nose, parts of the brain and the central nervous system.

Represented by the 96 petalled lotus, it encompasses all senses and vibrates in the color of indigo "Ajna" is the Sanskrit word for the 6th chakra. It means "beyond wisdom." It has also been translated to mean "the perception center."  

The 6th chakra is located between, and just above, the eyes. It is often referred to as the "third eye." This chakra deals with visualization, intuition, imagination and telepathy.

Organ/parts of body associated with the 6th chakra:

• Pituitary gland, eyes, head, lower brain

The emotion for the 6th chakra is "knowing", as in an intuitive type of knowing.

The color is purple/violet, both spiritual colors.

When the energy in the 6th chakra is excessive, it can cause headaches, hallucinations, nightmares and difficulty in concentrating.

But when the energy is deficient, there may be eye problems, poor memory, inability to visualize.

The Fifth Chakra: Throat Chakra

The throat chakra is located in the area of the throat and larynx. This chakra is associated with communication and creativity.

As we move up the chakra system, self and physical limitations are beginning to deteriorate. The fifth chakra represents the exchange of information, via communication, between two people.

The element sound or ether is represented by the fifth chakra. Sound is simply vibration, and ether represents the world of unseen vibration. The fifth chakra is the last of the chakras to be associated with an element as the sixth and seventh chakras are spirit chakras. 

The universe is made up of vibrations. Some of these vibrations operate in such a way that we can hear them (via sound), see them (via color), feel them (via heat), and sense them. The last conception of vibrations, sense, works on a very subtle level.

The Fourth Chakra: Heart Chakra

Chakras are energy centers that mediate life force energy between the energy field, the unified field, other people, the environment, and the physical body.  Through this circulation of energy, chakras nourish the body and its physiological systems, having the greatest energetic influence on the area of the body nearest to its location.  

The major chakras are positioned along the central vertical axis of the body, beginning at the perineum ending at the top of the head. The Sanskrit name for the 4th chakra is "Anahata." This word means "unstruck" or "stillness."

The 4th chakra is located in our heart center. It governs our intuition and love. It is also known as the heart chakra. 

Parts of the body associated with the 4th chakra: Thymus, heart, lungs, chest, arms and breasts.

The Third Chakra: the Seat of Self-Esteem

The third chakra is located in the area of the solar plexus, navel and digestive system. It is associated with power, self-esteem and vitality. It is the seat of the intellect.

Glands/organs associated with the third chakra:

•   Pancreas, organs of digestion (small intestine)

When the third chakra is imbalanced, there can be digestive problems. 
The element for the third chakra is fire. When there is too much heat in this part of the body, there can be digestive problems. All of the "itis" diseases begin in this chakra when the fire gets out of control.

The senses for the third chakra are sight and cognitive thinking. Remember, the intellect lies here. Sometimes people refer to a "gut feeling" when they are trying to figure something out. 

When the third chakra is excessive, anger, hatred, too much attention to power, status and recognition can be present.

When it is deficient, one can have digestive problems, eating disorders, low self-esteem and a feeling of powerlessness.
